Road construction has been a nightmare for those who work in downtown Minneapolis. But a creative commuter at Patterson, Thuente, Skaar & Christensen transformed that experience into one of the most popular exhibits in the IDS Center’s annual pumpkin carving contest.

"Tenants really get into our annual pumpkin carving contest. They get very creative, which is what makes it so much fun," said Nicolle Toth from IDS Center Concierge Services.

A long tradition in the IDS Center, the contest brings out the creativity in many of the building’s tenants, who prefer topical themes like the swine flu or the stock market crash over traditional witches and ghouls.

“Nightmare on Marquette” struck fear into the hearts of Crystal Court merchants, who presented the firm with the 2009 Scariest Pumpkin Award.
